Hip and Elbow Evaluation

In 2019 The Pupscan Project launched a new method of hip and elbow evaluation which is based on a diagnosis rather than a number. The reason we offer this service is because we feel that breeders require more information about their dog’s skeletal development to enable them to make informed decisions regarding their breeding lines.

Our service is designed to identify the faulty processes that occurred during joint development including the acquired through trauma that often result in a poor presentation on X-ray. These conditions vary tremendously and can often be explained upon careful examination, and should not be side-lined into the pit of dysplasia with a few shovels of genetics thrown in for good measure.

Therefore, breeders/owners are invited to submit their dogs skeletal X-rays to our consultation panel of specialist Orthopaedic consultants, who are working together from both the Veterinary and human world of medicine and sharing up to date knowledge in the advancements of research and evidence-based medicine.

Many breeders recognise the need for information as we have spent many years studying our breed and with careful selection and knowledge gained, we have managed to avoid unwanted traits within our breeding lines. However, some traits cannot be diminished so easily but it only by continuously acquiring knowledge can we progress. Therefore, Pupscan is supporting breeders by producing these valuable reports so that informed decisions can be made.

If the processes can be clearly identified, (X-ray quality dependent), the breeder can be reassured of the absence of any predominantly genetic fault and will not have to reduce their gene pool unnecessarily.

Please choose one of the options below if you wish to receive a X-ray evaluation and at the checkout fill in the form. You will receive a confirmation email with your order number (please check your junk or spam!) which you should reply to with your X-rays attached.
